The Huxter team has compiled a list of their favourite self care tips, we hope they can be of assistance to you and your family.
Getting outside helps break the cabin fever we are all feeling. Just a simple walk can help lift your spirits, say hello to people you pass on the street, they are feeling pretty crappy too. You can multitask during your walk, listen to a podcast or audio book or call a friend. Our dogs (Jerry Seinfeld and George Michael) are getting walked multiple times most days between the kids and Claudie and Sean, they are loving lock down!

2. Unplug from the firehose of bad news
Are masks helping? Hindering? Is 1.5mtrs enough distance or should we stay even further away? Numbers of infections are either soaring or dropping. Fake News? It’s hard to keep up. Take a day off social media and the news. You won't miss anything but might start to feel better about the future.
3. Check in with Friends
Your phone not only accesses the internet but can actually make telephone calls! Call a friend or old colleague and check in on them. Shoot the breeze for a while on things other than the Rona, there’s many more rewarding topics to cover. Keep the human connections up in the real world.
4. Attack something you have been avoiding
Claudine and Sean moved a few weeks ago during the brief respite we had from social distancing here in Victoria. The thought of packing up the detritus of just a few years was somewhat overwhelming. It took a few weeks to get started however selling on Facebook Marketplace, donating or giving away so much ‘stuff’ has been very rewarding. Sometimes it's good to let go of the things that we carry around for decades.
There is so much research pointing to the benefits of sleep. 8 hours is the optimum as they say. This is not possible for all of us however but see if you can get into bed just 15 minutes earlier and give your body a little extra recovery time. Leave your phone in the kitchen at night to remove the temptation.
- Make a playlist of your favorite music from your youth. Nostalgia is always fun especially when connected to the emotions that music delivers. 6. Cook your favourite meal.
Food through time has brought people together and Covid is no exception. Sean is working on some French classics with varying degrees of success whilst Claudine has dusted off her apron to have a crack at bread after watching Paul Hollywood’s latest show on SBS Food.

Take a long relaxing bath.
